Winner of the Blue Tulip Award 2020

PATS is winner of the 2020 edition in the Nutrition theme

11 June 2020 – On Thursday night the 11th of June we took home the Blue Tulip Award in the Nutrition theme! After an exciting day filled with pitches of 10 nutrition contestants and finalists, the final decision by the jury was announced through a live broadcast on RTL Z. The announcement was accompanied by a brief interview with Ronald Koopman (RTL) and Bram Tijmons (PATS).

As the theme’s winner PATS was reckoned by the jury for having ‘sweet spot technology’ with a great cross-over between two important sectors being Horticulture and High-Tech systems and a strong well fitted team.

The Blue Tulip Awards organisation aims to “[…] accelerate innovators, build powerful collaborations, and drive breakthrough innovation”. Innovations of contestants in various themes need to have an immense potential to transform the future for good improving the way the world works and lives rights now.

For PATS the award comes as a recognition for the progress that has been made in developing a suitable and sustainable alternative to perform insect control in horticulture. It shows that experts in the field of nutrition – from Farm-to-Fork – understand the potential of our solution in combating daily challenges to ensure food security and supply.

The road to the finals started in November 2019 with over 70 applications of innovative companies active in the field of Nutrition. This journey was packed with events, networking, pitches, speed dates and Q&A’s, bringing the number of innovations down to a selection of 10 companies in the finals. Halfway the process the live and physical events where disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing the organizers to switch to a fully digital, but well organized and executed format.

The Blue Tulips Awards are organized annually by Accenture and affiliated partners, and aims to select the most promising innovations in different themes like nutrition, health and mobility.
